Unity is a game development ecosystem for independent developers and studios. The engine allows to create interactive 3D content.
As read on the official Unity Blog: Independent Unity developers will now be able to deploy their games to Android and iOS platforms completely free of charge. By updating Unity, Android and iOS build options will be ready for use (previously only available as add-ons).
As claimed by Unity developers, there are no license fees connected with the new options. The new update is simply an extension of Unity Free. Individual developers and startup studios can simply download Unity and start working on mobile game development (the paid version of Unity is meant for companies with a turnover in excess of $100 000)!
Future plans for Unity include making Blackberry 10 and Windows Phone 8 deployment available on the same terms.
The developers of Unity are curious to see what people will come up with.
